What we stand for

We connect people. Because we are fully convinced that interacting and meeting with others drives us forward – by sharing and passing on experiences as well as inspiring and supporting each other.

Our initiatives

Standing up for our values means taking concrete action. We therefore have various initiatives with which we send a message – both internally as well as externally. It’s how we put a face and a voice to our values. And our voice is loud because we do not compromise when it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Diversity is our strength

We believe equity and inclusion are important cornerstones for joint progress and success in the future. Only when different people come together is everyone taken into consideration in global competition. That’s why diversity is an integral part of our corporate culture.

A culture of belonging

By publishing our revised Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Policy, we established a new awareness of the consideration and promotion of diversity at Deutsche Telekom. On all levels and globally. The policy aspires to demand and promote a culture of belonging, in which everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their full potential.

Practice makes diversity

Being respectful means tolerating and appreciating how others identify themselves. We offer courses, training, and discussions with experts on all dimensions of diversity to ensure respectful interaction with one another: Gender, age, sexual orientation and gender identity, ethnic origin and nationality, social background, physical and mental abilities, as well as religion and worldview.

Together and for each other

Our employee networks such as MagentaPride, Muslims@Telekom, Christians@Telekom and our BIPoC community are committed to eliminating prejudices and promoting diversity within the company. For instance, MagentaPride has been working on behalf of the LGBTQIA+ network since 2003: For more attention and help with challenges in the everyday lives of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, and intersex employees.

Gender equality

We believe that equal opportunities and equal pay for women are a matter of course. We are particularly keen to promote women in technical and leadership positions.

Climate & environment

We relate sustainability to our own inward-facing actions and our outward-facing influence. We are clearly committed to climate protection, reducing our emissions, using resources carefully, and improving the environmental impact of our products. So, together with our customers, we are becoming greener.

Social commitment

The digital world connects us all. While some generations are increasingly learning to live with digitalization, others have grown up with it. As the leading digital telco, we contribute to enabling everybody to participate equally. To achieve this, we provide network infrastructure and products and are committed to society in a variety of ways.

Digital responsibility

The digital transformation defines how we live day-to-day and how we relate to our community. As a telecommunications company, we feel that one of our most important responsibilities is to accompany this transformation.

Digital participation

In an increasingly digitalized world, people need access to technology. However, some people still find it a challenge to take part in the digital world. Additionally, the Internet is increasingly being used as a tool to spread hate and disinformation. At Deutsche Telekom, we are committed to ensuring that everyone has the chance to take part in the digital world and live together according to democratic principles.

Digital education

Digital education is essential when it comes to a successful future. With our holistic approach, we advise teachers, families, school authorities, and IT decision-makers in order to promote digital education. We enable them to integrate new technologies into everyday school life in a practical way, provide guides, and advise people on all issues and topics relating to digitalization.

Digital ethics

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly changing our world. Even experts can’t always fully understand how AI makes decisions. This makes it extremely important that AI systems are used in everyday working life in such a way that they do not have a negative impact on the safety, health, and basic rights of employees. Our digital ethics guidelines on AI provide a framework for this.
