Our initiatives

For us, standing up for our values means taking concrete action. We therefore have various initiatives with which we send a message – both internally as well as externally – so what we say is backed up by what we do.

Breaking barriers and biases with the 16bit games

As part of the #LoveItToBitsWithUs campaign, we developed a range of retro computer games to raise awareness around the topic of unconscious biases. Stereotypes and unconscious biases can influence our own development as well as how we behave towards others.

To do something about this, our 16bit games present various biases that we might encounter over the course of our careers. Being aware of these biases is a first step towards making change, establishing an open and honest culture of dialog, and creating a working environment where everyone feels comfortable.

People of Deutschland

People of Deutschland“ is a book in which Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPoC*) tell personal and moving stories about their life in Germany. Famous faces from the worlds of culture, industry, sport, fashion, and politics share their daily experiences of discrimination, subliminal hostility, and microaggressions – either while looking for an apartment, in their working life, or during routine police checks.

Together with our BIPoC*@Telekom community, we have taken this brave book as a model and created a limited edition with the experiences of our own employees. Out of solidarity and with the hope of greater awareness and consciousness of the reality of life for many people in Germany.

Living Culture Day

“We won't stop until everyone is connected.” Our corporate culture is based on that very principle. It expresses what we stand for and what motivates us.

And we celebrate both these things once a year at our “Living Culture Day.” Each year, this day is held with a new motto. It underlines our passion for the future and our togetherness.

#NOHATESPEECH

There are hardly any hard-and-fast rules for communication online. Supposed freedom of speech and digital anonymity foster hate, discrimination, and animosity towards people who don’t conform to other people’s ideas. As a leading telecommunications company that provides digital infrastructure, we want to change things so the internet no longer offers a platform for negative propaganda.

With new actions and campaigns against hate on the internet, we are adopting a clear position, raising awareness of the issue, and supporting those affected. Treating each other with respect in the digital world is just as important as in real life – both inside and outside of the company.
