Leading Digital Telco

Deutsche Telekom is one of the world's leading integrated telecommunications companies, with more than 252 million mobile customers, 25 million fixed-network lines, and 22 million broadband lines.

We provide fixed-network/broadband, mobile communications, Internet, and IPTV products and services for consumers, and information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for business and corporate customers.

Deutsche Telekom is present in more than 50 countries. With a staff of some 199,562 (Dec 31, 2023) employees throughout the world, we generated revenue of 112 billion Euros in the 2023 financial year.*

Today, we are developing from a classic telephone company into a service company of a completely new type: the software company that sells telecommunications services. Because only a Telekom that is digitalised in all areas can continue the successful path of the past years. With our presence in Europe and the USA, we are ideally positioned for this. We want to become the leading digital telco. The core business, i.e. the operation and sale of networks and connections, will remain the basis.

More data, more speed

We want to turn our customers into fans and adapt to their needs in the long term. The gigabit society, in which high-speed Internet is taken for granted both at home and on the move, has fundamentally changed the way we communicate. Internet applications have long become an indispensable part of everyday life. We can download films from the Web, watch soccer games on our cell phones, send photographs and video files from our smartphones and share them with our friends via social networks. In technical terms, this means that ever greater volumes of data need to be transported at ever higher speeds.

A single source

This calls for a Telekom that brings all these elements together and offers customers a fixed network, mobile communications, and IPTV from a single source. And a Telekom that ensures secure storage and access to all private data, wherever the user may be and whatever type of device they are using.

But it also calls for ever more efficient networks. Deutsche Telekom can build these networks, which will not only cover skyrocketing demand for broadband in the future, but are also intelligent enough to open up new business areas to entire industries, such as the energy sector, healthcare, or the automotive industry. To achieve this, we invested at a record level in 2023 as well.

16.5 billion was invested primarily in our global infrastructure, € 5.7 billion of which in Germany alone. We see the expansion of our networks as part of our social mission. Our investments are indispensable for successful digitalisation.

Integrated solutions for business customers

Deutsche Telekom is the digitalization partner for business customers worldwide. The range of services extends from global solutions for connectivity and infrastructures to cloud services and digitalization strategies for companies and the public sector. The Group also stands out in future areas such as data spaces, cyber security, quantum computing and artificial intelligence. We are there for around three million companies, from the smallest entrepreneurs to multinational corporations.

As the market leader for business customers in Germany, Telekom Deutschland provides services for software-based, secure and globally available fixed and mobile networks. The portfolio includes services for cyber security, the Internet of Things (IoT) and applications for digitalization. Around 10,500 (31.12.2023) employees provide all services related to global connectivity for companies and institutions of all sizes. The team also supports small and medium-sized enterprises with digitalization and builds on partnerships with leading technology providers, for example in the area of IT solutions for SMEs. With cross-industry digitalization expertise, Telekom Deutschland also operates customer and network service platforms in the cloud.

With locations in more than 20 countries and around 26,000 employees (31.12.2023), the enterprise customer division T-Systems is one of the world's leading service providers for IT and digitalization solutions. T-Systems offers integrated solutions for the secure operation of IT infrastructures, transformation to the cloud, multi-cloud platforms and software through to comprehensive digitalization projects. The basis for this is Telekom's global reach for fixed network and mobile communications, highly secure data centers, a comprehensive cloud ecosystem with leading international partners as well as maximum security, sovereignty and zero-outage quality. Focus industries include automotive, manufacturing, retail and logistics, public transport, the financial sector, healthcare and the public sector.

Sustainable on principle

We believe in the compatibility of economic, social, and ecological aspects and are committed to acting responsibly along our entire value chain.

Our network can do more than just connect people. It makes our lives safer, promotes equal opportunities, and helps reduce energy consumption and conserve resources. Acting responsibly” is an integral part of our corporate strategy and therefore a requirement for all employees in our Group. For more than two decades, environmental and social responsibility have been essential aspects of our day-to-day business and integral to our corporate governance. In our Corporate Responsibility strategy we identified four key areas where we want to lead through exemplary actions. These include our strict commitment to climate-neutral business practices, our determined efforts to ensure our products and services are compatible with the circular economy, our pursuit of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as our determination to help shape a digital society that is based on our fundamental democratic values and in which all people can participate safely, competently, and with autonomy: We want to make the digital world a tolerant, safe space for everyone and enable society to bridge the digital divide.

Taking responsibility

The #GreenMagenta and #GoodMagenta labels are available for products and services with a particular sustainability advantage. This label is awarded to products and services that make a positive contribution to greater climate and resource protection and to social and societal challenges in the digital world.

For example, we help our customers reduce their energy consumption and conserve resources with smart products and services like SmartHome solutions. We protect the climate by reducing our own electricity consumption, for example with highly efficient data centers. In addition, we decouple electricity demand and climate-impacting emissions by focusing on electricity from renewable energies.

We promote media literacy with a wide range of projects and initiatives, thus enabling children, young people, and adults of all ages to deal competently and safely with new technologies. Whether workshops, online training courses or films: with a wide range of projects and initiatives, we help people both nationally and internationally, for example, to create secure passwords, recognize fake news or learn to code in programming workshops. Binding ethical, social and ecological standards are an integral part of all our supplier contracts and we act as partners in helping our suppliers become more sustainable and conduct thorough audits to make sure human rights are protected at their companies.
