Christina: After my apprenticeship as an IT systems electronics engineer, I worked in a variety of sales areas. The Bologna@Telekom training offering enabled me to complete my Bachelor’s degree in business informatics alongside my career. I worked as a project manager for a long time, before taking on agile leadership of an international team in the Scaled Agile Framework as the Product Owner. During this time, I became increasingly interested in taking on a management role.  Then, in 2022, I took on the role of People Lead in IT.  Since 2023, following my maternity and parental leave, I have been Super Chapter Lead at Telekom Technik, where I am responsible for the First Line Maintenance area.

What drives you in your work?

Christina: My empathy and my willpower. I never give up, even in difficult situations, and I always look ahead. I’m the kind of person who likes to try things out. For me, there’s always a way. Sometimes things need a second glance, but at the end of the day, there’s always a solution to every problem. I’m curious and I have a lot of interests. That’s what drives me, because I’m always looking to learn or find out something new.

Fight for yourself. Accept honest feedback and let go of the things and people that prevent you from following your path. Christina Fetsch

What is your recipe for success when it comes to juggling kids and a career?

Christina: On the one hand, a lot of organizational talent, as well as the willpower I already mentioned. On the other hand, my network is a huge help. It’s important to be able to switch off from everyday life, have a place where the kids feel happy, and where I can leave everything behind and focus on being a mom. For me, being open with my team, colleagues, and line managers is also important. I have a clear rule, that after a certain time of day, I switch off from work and focus solely on family time.

What do you enjoy about your job as Super Chapter Lead?

Christina: The job suits my strengths perfectly: My people skills are very good, and I am a good judge of character. I am able to get along with others, put myself in their position, and motivate them. In my job it is important to establish good people management, because, in our company, people are the focus. Then there’s also the aspect of working strategically and thinking about what personnel requirements in the tribe will look like in the future, for example. What skills will be needed in two or three years’ time? How is the working world changing, and what impact does this have? How can we get employees on board for the skills transformation

What are your career tips?

Christina: Know your strengths. Find out what makes you special, and use it for your career. Stand up for yourself, and don’t be intimidated by setbacks.

  • Build a network, find support when you need it, and communicate.
  • Find mentors who support you and clearly formulate what your career should look like.
  • Invest in yourself and your path.
