Symantec - a new strategic partner in Telekom's Business Marketplace

  • Symantec is a leading provider of IT solutions for security and backup
  • Protection against viruses and malware with just a few mouse clicks
  • Easy data recovery from the cloud

At CeBIT 2013, Telekom is announcing a strategic partnership with Symantec, a leading provider of IT security and backup solutions in the cloud. The applications offered for small and medium-sized enterprises will be available from Telekom's Business Marketplace starting in March 2013. "Security in the cloud is one of the top priorities for our customers and for Telekom. We are partnering with Symantec due to its reputation as one of the world's leading providers of security solutions from the cloud," says Phil Zamani, Senior Vice President for Cloud Services, Deutsche Telekom AG. "The applications are designed to meet the specific needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. They can be easily adopted in IT setups by even the smallest company, and they are also easy to use. With a small fixed monthly rate, businesses in the SME segment can benefit from professional protection at predictable costs, without any major financial investments in infrastructure." Derek O'Carroll, VP EMEA .Cloud and Security Group and RVP Central Region at Symantec, adds: "The SMB segment in Germany is an important opportunity for Deutsche Telekom and Symantec. Companies of all sizes are changing the way they consume and use IT, and the SMB segment is the most dynamic. Businesses want to make decisions quickly, with partners they trust, reap the benefits of those decisions quickly, and focus on growing their businesses." Over the past year, 36 percent of all cyber attacks were aimed at small business enterprises, making, complete protection for laptops, desktops, servers and other mobile devices is absolutely essential. With that in mind, Telekom's Business Marketplace will initially offer two solutions from the Symantec portfolio in the future: Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 2013 detects, eliminates and blocks viruses, worms, Trojans and malware. The security package for data and devices includes firewall and web browser protection, as well as USB device control. This simple and effective protection can be installed within minutes. "We want to give our customers best-in class experience solutions and have been working with SME's in the last year to understand their business in the cloud. Ease of use as well as simple back-up of data are very important to them," says Phil Zamani. The installation of the Symantec Backup Exec.cloud solution for data backup is just as easy as Symantec Endpoint Protection. It provides secure, automated backups of PCs and servers. Business Marketplace is the single destination for SME's and where Telekom consolidates applications from the cloud aimed specifically at small and medium sized business customers. Since its launch in summer 2012, 40 applications have been added from over 20 partners - including Box, an application for storing, sharing and collaborating online, iMeet, a virtual meeting room, and Office 365 a comprehensive suite of cloud applications from Microsoft. Deutsche Telekom is the contractual partner for all applications. It guarantees end-to-end data privacy and data security in the cloud in accordance with Deutsche Telekom's strict standards. Telekom also provides local German-speaking service hotline for all applications as one stop-shop provider.
