- Deutsche Telekom with excellent performance overall
- Best nationwide telephony services
- Fastest connections for online gamers
Deutsche Telekom simply refuses to budge from first place for very long: the 2016 edition of "connect" magazine's major test of fixed networks has returned the company to its top ranking. "The noticeable improvement in quality deserves special praise," noted the "connect" editorial staff.
In particular, the test results in the telephony category show how well Deutsche Telekom is now handling its network, which is increasingly being converted to IP-telephony standards. Deutsche Telekom, along with one regional provider, achieved the best performance in the test, including the shortest connection-set-up times to and from the conventional ISDN network.
Deutsche Telekom finished among the leaders in all relevant categories, including telephony, Internet service and Internet TV. Its overall performance was so good that it was the only provider to receive a grade of "very good" from the magazine's testing experts. "We are continually expanding and upgrading our network with a view to meeting growing requirements and always offering our customers the best experience," explained Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, Managing Director of Technology at Telekom Deutschland GmbH. "We are thus delighted with our test result. And we are especially happy for our customers, since that result confirms that they have chosen the right network."
The testing was carried out by professional testers at the firm of zafaco (a provider of ICT-related services), under contract to "connect." All in all, the testers collected over 2.1 million measurements and, in the process, analyzed aspects such as voice quality, video quality, data rates, response times and a number of other key parameters relative to the quality of fixed networks in Germany. The "connect" editorial staff judged Deutsche Telekom's test results as follows: "In 2016, once again, the fixed-network crown goes to Bonn."
