At T-Mobile, mini laptops with integrated mobile communications functionality are key products for web’n’walk. The reasons are obvious: Mini laptop users enjoy mobile online access and working comfort that easily compare to what they are accustomed to on their home or office computers. At the same time, mini laptops are small and light enough for almost any purse, briefcase or backpack. The devices are thus an attractive alternative or complement to smartphones for purposes of mobile Internet access. A leader in mobile broadband Internet, T-Mobile continues to expand its range of mini laptops. Soon, it will begin offering three attractive new devices along with the popular Acer Aspire One A150x-3G and LG X110: the Samsung NC10, the Sony VAIO VGN-P11Z and, exclusively, the Compaq Mini 702 EG from HP.
New mini laptops from Samsung, HP and Sony The Samsung NC10 and HP Compaq Mini 702 EG are equipped with the fast, energy-efficient Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor. Each also has a 10.2" 1,024 x 600 backlit display, a webcam and stereo speakers. The Samsung NC10 comes with a 160 GB hard drive, an integrated multi-card reader and three USB ports. The HP Compaq Mini 702 EG boasts a special keyboard that is only about eight percent smaller than a regular laptop key-board – and thus is perfect for serious typists. Weighing in at only 640 grams, the Sony VAIO VGN-P11Z is the lightest of the mini laptops offered by T-Mobile. In spite of its light weight, it still features an 8 " wide-format LCD display with 1,600 x 768 resolution for especially clear images. The Sony mini laptop's Intel Atom Z520 1.33 GHz processor and 2 GB memory are designed especially for mini laptops with integrated mobile communications functionality.
Surf the Web at up to 7.2 Mbit/s All of T-Mobile's mini laptops include a fully integrated mobile communications module. That supports mobile high-speed surfing at up to 7.2 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 2 Mbit/s – perfect for emailing large files such as high-resolution photos. T-Mobile's network now offers such high speeds for mobile surfing and emailing in many urban areas. In rural areas, Germany's leading mobile provider is using EDGE technology to provide mobile Internet access with up to four times the bandwidth available with ISDN. And, because the mini laptops also come with an additionally integrated WLAN module, T-Mobile customers can also use them for Internet access at any of Deutsche Telekom's over 8,000 HotSpots, i.e. WLAN sites offering public Internet access. T-Mobile will soon announce the prices for the new mini laptops, which will go on sale in early March 2009. Prices as announced will include a 24-month fixed-term mobile contract with a web’n’walk Connect L flat rate for unlimited mobile surfing. web’n’walk Connect L costs EUR 39.95 per month and has a one-time provision charge of EUR 24.95. T-Mobile customers who have signed up for Lufthansa's Miles & More frequent-flier program are eligible for 5,000 bonus miles when they opt for a new contract.
