The plans are ambitious: Telekom wants two digit growth in Cybersecurity, more than the eight-percent market growth in Germany. The new Telekom Security business unit, through which the company aims to achieve these goals, has now been launched officially. Anette Bronder, Director of the T-Systems Digital Division, now is Director of Telekom Security in addition. Dirk Backofen continues to manage the new division operationally.

“No business today can afford to offer solutions and not factor in security. We are a pioneer here with Telekom Security working shoulder to shoulder with the Digital Division. We continue to offer the main pillars of digitization with solutions for the Internet of Things and for the cloud – along with compatible security solutions. Everything from a single source,” said Anette Bronder, Director of T-Systems, Digital Division and Telekom Security at an event in front of some 1,200 Telekom Security employees.

Last year the business unit that was then being set up launched initial security solutions and presented them at CeBIT and as part of the “Magenta Security Congress.” In the New Year, Telekom Security will continue along these lines and will already be showcasing other new products and services at CeBIT 2017. “Our aspiration is to offer solutions for consumers as well as for major corporations. Right from the setup phase of Telekom Security we exceeded our revenue targets with this strategy,” says Dirk Backofen, Head of Telekom Security.

Backofen believes his new business unit is perfectly placed to succeed. In a similar vein, the latest Experton Vendor Benchmark placed Deutsche Telekom in top spot in all seven categories in which it operates. In the German market for Managed Security Services it is the “ultimate benchmark” both in terms of portfolio attractiveness and competitive strength, according to Experton. Dirk Backofen: “That is both an incentive and obligation for us. In future, everyone, be it in the private sector, be it business professionals, should automatically think of Deutsche Telekom when it comes to innovative, sound security solutions.”
