- Malta Enterprise becomes first partner to sign Memorandum of Understanding for Blockchain
- T-Systems offers independent marketplace for "Blockchain as a Service" for the first time in Europe
- The partners want to promote blockchain applications in Malta
As already announced, T-Systems will offer its business customers a "German Blockchain Ecosystem" (GBE) from 2020. The company presents this new product at this year's Digital X in Cologne on October 29 and 30. This makes T-Systems the first European digital service provider to launch a Blockchain as a Service marketplace. The new marketplace provides secure, compliant and rapidly deployable blockchain services. These include all necessary tools for development, testing and operation of blockchain networks.
T-Systems and Malta Enterprises want to push Blockchain together
Malta Enterprises will be the first partner for the German Blockchain Ecosystem. T-Systems and Malta Enterprise today announced their cooperation and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
As an agency of the Maltese government, Malta Enterprises is responsible for both foreign investment and local economic development. Together, they want to make the benefits of GBE quickly and easily available to Maltese registered companies working on blockchain projects. Malta is recognized as a pioneer in the global blockchain industry. It is the first EU country to provide a formal legal framework for DLT solutions.
"We are delighted to offer this unique platform to Blockchain developers," says Katharyn White, Chief Marketing Officer of T-Systems, "It will increase the success of Blockchain projects and accelerate the impact of Blockchain solutions on the market.”
Kurt Farugia, CEO of Malta Enterprise, also welcomes the cooperation:
“This collaboration with T-Systems will give a further competitive advantage over other jurisdictions while adding more value to the already established Blockchain ecosystem. Companies using T-System’s GBE services will have a certification for their project by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority. The relationship with T-Systems will continue to build Malta’s reputation as a solid Blockchain jurisdiction.”
Together, the companies want to get Blockchain up and running quickly in Malta. They are convinced that Blockchain networks provide higher security and control than any other technology.
The planned collaboration includes:
- Provision of an enterprise blockchain platform as part of the planned Malta Innovation Hub, which will support the Ethereum, Hyperledger, and Corda DLT platforms
- Provision of a validator service, allowing Mata-registered companies to rapidly deploy validator nodes on some of the largest and most significant proof-of-stake blockchains in production
- Support for the comprehensive solution audits recently announced by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority
- Access to T-Systems’ security solutions
- Joint marketing and training activities, including seminars in key European cities to provide a rapid adoption path for companies wishing to launch blockchain projects quickly, securely, and in full compliance
About the German Blockchain Ecosystem
The German Blockchain Ecosystem is a globally operated solution developed in Germany. It supports all common protocols of the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), on which Blockchain is also based.
The most important requirement for any blockchain application is a secure and distributed infrastructure. However, most companies and consortia do not have their own infrastructure. Or they don't have access to it. So far, this important building block has not been available as a service. The German Blockchain Ecosystem now closes this gap. T-Systems operates the infrastructure securely and completely out of Germany. In other words, a continuous service for Blockchain "made in Germany". The German Blockchain Ecosystem integrates all major cloud providers, including the Open Telekom Cloud. But also the customer's own infrastructure and the Internet of Things.
