T-Online and Symantec extend their joint product range

T-Online's Security Package Professional now includes Norton AntiVirus and Norton Personal Firewall T-Online and Symantec, the world's leading provider of Internet-security products, are to extend their joint product range after a year of successful cooperation. With immediate effect, T-Online is offering its almost 10 million residential and business customers in Germany a new service product for secure Internet access on a month-by-month rental basis: the T-Online Security Package Professional (SicherheitsPaket Professional), which contains both Norton "Personal Firewall 2003 and Norton AntiVirus" , provides protection from computer viruses, hackers and other unauthorized access to PCs. The package is excellent value for money, costing only €4.95 a month in addition to online charges. Since it is compatible with a multi-user environment, more licenses can be added for €1.95 a month per license, making it particularly attractive for small businesses.

In future, T-Online customers who order the Security Package will no longer have to worry about virus protection or updating their firewall: Norton AntiVirus- and Norton- Personal Firewall will be rented on a monthly basis and updated automatically in the background whenever the user logs into the Internet, so that it is always the latest versions of these Symantec products that are in use. The rental is paid monthly via the Deutsche Telekom invoice. The product can ordered at www.t-online.de/sicherheitspakete.

These products are adapted versions of Norton AntiVirus- 2003 and Norton- Personal Firewall 2003. Users can either download the package direct via T-Online or have a CD-Rom sent by post. They then install it on their computers. The PC system requirements are the same as for the retail "yellow boxes" containing Norton AntiVirus- 2003 or Norton- Personal Firewall 2003: Windows 2000, Pro, ME, 98 or Windows XP. T-Online will provide the technical support via its telephone hotlines. Further information is available from www.t-online.de/sicherheitspakete.

The Security Package Professional is offered as a special Internet-security package in addition to the extra-features package (KomfortPaket), which T-Online has been offering its customers for a year now in cooperation with Symantec. KomfortPaket customers who have been using Norton AntiVirus- 2002 since last year were already supplied with the 2003 version by Norton AntiVirus at the beginning of the year.

"We are pleased to be able to extend our successful collaboration with T-Online. It will benefit all the T-Online customers who opt for the Security Package," said Dieter Giesbrecht, Symantec Corporation's Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales and Services at the CeBIT 2003. "Private users and small companies no longer need to worry about dangers from the Internet if they are sufficiently protected by Symantec." Burkhard Graßmann, Member of the T-Online Board of Management responsible for Marketing and Sales, says: "Our customers needn't be deterred by possible dangers from using the Internet. By offering our customers a package of the world's leading Internet-security products, we are making sure they can surf without misgivings."

Symantec Consumer Security Services The products offered for rent on a monthly basis via T-Online - Norton AntiVirus and Norton Personal Firewall - are components of the Symantec Consumer Security Services for Internet service providers. With this product range, Symantec gives Internet service providers an opportunity to offer their customers value-added services in the Internet-security field. The solution is based on adapted versions of Norton AntiVirus and Norton Personal Firewall which are installed on the computers of the Internet service provider's customers and tracked via a license-management system that is linked to customer administration. In addition, a license-management component at the provider monitors the legal use of the software.
