Push for the Public Cloud: T-Systems offers Managed Cloud Services for AWS

  • Ecosystem expansion with the world's largest cloud infrastructure provider
  • End to End services for SAP, VMWare, security, migration, networking on Amazon Web Services

T-Systems offers Managed Cloud Services for AWS

T-Systems has expanded its cloud offering with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world's largest public cloud. Effective immediately, Deutsche Telekom's business customer subsidiary offers a portfolio of value added services on top of AWS, following cloud native best practices.

“Companies worldwide are transforming their IT landscapes using cloud services. Our base of clients for classical IT services is moving to the cloud at speed and at scale. AWS helps us to meet customer demands for ever more speed and scalability," explains T-Systems Global SVP for Public Cloud Frank Strecker, adding: “Companies not only want to move to the cloud, but are looking for a partner to support them through their digital transformation and manage their cloud environments from start to finish, this is where T-Systems and AWS can help.”

Having value added services along the entire value chain

Adding Consulting, Migration and Managed Services on top of AWS to their portfolio was an important milestone for T-Systems as it enables them to implement solutions for clients on the infrastructure of their choice including hybrid cloud solutions across platforms. Furthermore, it supports T-Systems strategy of “Public Cloud first”, which was launched earlier this year, establishing the strategy of T-Systems to deliver infrastructure, platforms, and managed services preferably from the public cloud. The partnership is focusing on delivering SAP on AWS and VMware Cloud on AWS projects as well as offering security and networking services for customers leveraging T-Systems longstanding experience in these domains.

“We are excited about the capabilities T-Systems brings to our customers, especially in the area of SAP on AWS and VMware Cloud on AWS, which will support them to move significant and mission critical workloads into the cloud," says Terry Wise, Global Vice President, Channels and Alliances for Amazon Web Services. “This will help companies to accelerate their transformation at scale and benefit from T-Systems’ heritage and experience amongst enterprise businesses combined with the power of innovation, security, speed and experience of AWS.”

Secure Big Data for Congstar

Starting in July 2017, T-Systems and AWS worked closely together with their joint customer Congstar, a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary, on a project focusing on Security Management on AWS, in order to implement an innovative Big Data solution. A main focus of this project was to leverage AWS automation and security features and capabilities by following AWS best practices to make the solution comply with Deutsche Telekom’s rigorous DTAG Privacy and Security Assessment (PSA) requirements. In mid-2018, the solution delivered by T Systems gained PSA approval and went into production. It now provides integrated security as a code straight from T-Systems CI/CD pipeline. This solution enables the Congstar DevOps team to work seamlessly, in an enterprise-grade, preconfigured and hardened AWS Account managed by T Systems. As a result of this combined work, customers in Germany and worldwide can now benefit from T-Systems expertise in implementing solutions based on AWS according to DTAG’s own high security and compliance requirements. Based on customer feedback, T-Systems will continue to develop their services portfolio on top of the AWS platform to fulfill their customer’s requirements.

More than 100 certified experts

Recently T-Systems achieved AWS Advanced Consulting Partner status and has taken a big step in building a significant consulting business, developing cloud offerings for AWS and delivering the first customer projects. This was accompanied by an aggressive training program. With the support of AWS, more than 100 T Systems engineers in Germany and Mexico qualified in a three months training as certified AWS Solutions Architects. Further to this, T Systems has started a large-scale education program globally to train and certify more than 1,000 employees across T-Systems, by the end of 2019.

Managed Cloud Services for Business Customers

For T-Systems, the collaboration with AWS is the next strategic step in positioning itself as a provider of managed cloud services in the fast growing cloud market. The Telekom subsidiary had already announced its cooperation with Cloudreach, an AWS Premier partner in July 2018. The combination of Cloudreach, T-Systems and the AWS cloud will offer customers a great range of expertise, manpower and services at scale to be able to leverage the cloud for their innovation and long-term success.
