Open Telekom Cloud now with dedicated access

  • Private Link Access Service (PLAS) allows users particularly secure access to Telekom's public cloud
  • AI and IT Security in Focus at the OpenStack Summit

The Open Telekom Cloud now has particularly secure access for its users: As announced by T-Systems and cloud technology partner Huawei, the Private Link Access Service (PLAS) is now available. T-Systems will be presenting these and other innovations at the OpenStack Summit in Berlin in mid-November.

PLAS enables users of the Open Telekom Cloud to use a dedicated connection from their local network to Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) on Telekom's public cloud platform. In addition, PLAS enables a Layer 2 or Layer 3 network connection between the Open Telekom Cloud and any network provider that ends in the Open Telekom Cloud. The PLAS connection is established between a provider's network and the Private Link Gateway (PLGW), which reduces network latency and provides a more stable, secure network compared to traditional Internet connections.

Huawei brings hardware, software and solution expertise and T-Systems offers the necessary cloud expertise, the network and the certified German cloud data center. The partners thus enable their customers to transform their IT into the cloud in the best possible way, both technologically and in terms of comprehensive service responsibility. Since the Open Telekom Cloud is technologically based on OpenStack with open interfaces, the cloud service is basically manufacturer-independent.

"With the introduction of the new PLAS feature, we are bundling the strengths of both parties and offering our customers a secure and reliable cloud solution. The combination of secure network access to the already available Open Telekom Cloud ensures maximum quality and security," said Andreas Falkner, Vice President Open Telekom Cloud at T-Systems. Lin Baifeng, responsible for Deutsche Telekom support at Huawei, said: "The successful launch of PLAS shows that the cooperation between two strong partners can bring real competitive advantages to our customers".

OpenStack Summit in Berlin

T-Systems will present the full Open Telekom Cloud portfolio at the OpenStack Summit from November 13 to 15 in Berlin. As the main sponsor, Telekom will be represented with its own stand, keynotes and workshops. In addition to artificial intelligence from the cloud, Deutsche Telekom will also focus on IT security, data privacy and reliability. The provider will dedicate a separate area to each topic at its booth. "Our Open Telekom cloud based on OpenStack is not considered the safest alternative to US hyperscalers for nothing," emphasizes Andreas Falkner.
