Open Telekom Cloud for Asia

The Open Telekom Cloud is expanding its coverage to Asia. T-Systems has launched its public cloud platform in a data center in Singapore. Companies in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) can now enjoy a German-standard cloud with low latency. 

"As a rule, Deutsche Telekom has operated around the globe, there wherever our customers are", said Andreas Falkner, responsible for the Open Telekom Cloud business, and top DT representative at technology partner Huawei's Connect Conference in Shanghai.  "Thanks to the Open Telekom Cloud, we can now offer the public cloud services, which have proven themselves in Europe, in the dynamic economies of the Asia-Pacific region. This is particularly attractive for Asian companies interested in the European market."

Analysts have been positive on Deutsche Telekom's expansion of the Open Telekom Cloud into Asia. "Opening a data center for the Open Telekom Cloud in Singapore this year underlines T-Systems vision of becoming a global public cloud provider," said Agatha Poon, Research Director, Asia-Pacific Services, at 451 Research. 

The technological platform, based on OpenStack with open interfaces, enables fast and easy access and facilitates integration in the existing IT landscape. OpenStack also eases uses such as Lift and Shift between Singapore and Europe. Evidently, the Open Telekom Cloud's proximity to users in the APAC region will reduce latency times.  

T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom's business customer arm, will gradually expand the range of Open Telekom Cloud features available in Singapore, entirely based on customers' needs. You can find more information on the Open Telekom Cloud's features here.
