We've all been there: the planning is perfect, you've chosen which route you want to take, you set off and end up in a traffic jam. The traffic news on the radio telling you about the endless tailbacks on the highway comes just that little bit too late.
Since the beginning of January, Deutsche Telekom has been offering the perfect solution in conjunction with Tegaron Telematics. Dial directory enquiries on 11833 and listen to the latest traffic news - at the moment for fixed-network lines, but soon for mobile phones. This service is charged at the standard directory-enquiry rate even if you get personal advice. We can recommend a route for your chosen destination - including how far it is and how long it is likely to take you to get there depending on the current traffic situation.
"Tegaron Mobility" is the name of this service provided by Tegaron Telematics, a joint venture between the Deutsche Telekom Group and DaimlerChrysler Services. Compared to radio and ADAC traffic news, Tegaron currently provides the most up-to-date and most reliable traffic data. This was clearly shown in an independent DEKRA survey. Approximately 4000 traffic sensors along German highways record traffic flow round-the-clock, which means that traffic jams and congestion are detected in just minutes. And we're just as fast at giving the "all-clear".
And Tegaron Mobility has even more to offer: 11833 is the number to dial if you want information on school holidays, ferry connections, highway tolls or even the holiday weather forecast.
T-D1 mobile-phone customers can of course continue to receive this information from Tegaron using the familiar abbreviated dialing number, 2526.
