Extended possibilities for app developers: New API to send and receive SMS from within applications

  • Besides the worldwide delivery of SMS, Developer Garden now offers developers the ability to receive SMS in applications
  • Additional hardware is no longer needed
  • Quick and flexible integration as a result of the GSMA industry standard for SMS

With Developer Garden Global SMS API, the developer ecosystem of Deutsche Telekom now offers additional SMS functionalities for application developers. The new key feature Receive SMS enables text messages to also be received within applications ensuring a two-way communication. Many companies need to exchange information with customers via SMS, for example sending PIN codes or appointment reminders. Developer Garden Global SMS API allows developers a flexible way to develop business applications that are able to communicate with people or machines by SMS - meaning that short text messages can be both sent and received without any additional hardware needed to enable cost-efficient processes. Scenarios like these are required in many industries. For example incorporated into a CRM system, the API enables an efficient form of customer support or data administration, as information is not just sent, but can also be received and managed within the application. Developer Garden Global SMS API users can purchase a “virtual” German mobile number via Deutsche Telekom. It enables the automatic management to send and receive SMS. Developer Garden charges a one-time fee of EUR 6 to set up the virtual number, the basic monthly charge is EUR 3. There are no additional costs for receiving text messages. To test the API developers can send ten free SMS per day. In addition to the new Receive SMS feature, Developer Garden Global SMS API offers two further feature bundles - Basic and Premium. The packages provide various functionalities such as worldwide delivery of SMS, the ability to send overly long text messages, the support of established SMS standards as well as the possibility to receive a delivery report which provides reliable information on the delivery status. The Developer Garden Global SMS API is available now via www.developergarden.com . Developers need to sign up for free to activate and use the API.
