- Deutsche Telekom and AXA seal cooperation agreement
- Coverage package for new cell phones, smartphones and netbooks
- Damage caused by owner and total losses covered
- Basic and Premium protection plans available
It can happen even if you're careful: The shiny new smartphone you just bought hits the floor or your ultra-chic netbook is stolen. The manufacturer's warranty does not cover those risks - and to make matters worse, the resulting repair or repurchase costs just add to the bill. Starting immediately, Deutsche Telekom and AXA are closing these gaps in coverage with their cell phone protection plan. It covers repair costs in the event of damage caused by the owner or high outlays for replacements in the event of total losses, theft or burglary.
Customers can choose between Basic and Premium cell phone protection. Basic protection can be purchased for cell phones, with the exception of iPhones. The coverage amount is EUR 400 with a deductible of EUR 40 per loss. The Premium cell phone protection plan insures iPhones, smartphones and netbooks. Coverage for these devices is limited to EUR 600 with a deductible of EUR 60. One special bonus for iPhone owners is a 12-month extended warranty.
Both the Basic and the Premium protection plans come with the Lost & Found service, which includes a finder's reward of EUR 50. To be eligible, purchasers must register for the service online at http://www.extrapolice24.de/handyschutzbrief/ stating their name, address and device.
Both protection plans have a term of 24 months. Coverage is available for devices that clients have purchased from Deutsche Telekom within the last 30 days. The Basic cell phone protection plan costs EUR 49.95, while the charge for the Premium plan is EUR 79.95. The protection plans are available at Telekom shops, via any T-Mobile cell phone by dialing 2202, and online at www.t-mobile.de/schutzbrief.
