Beethoven's unfinished

Unfortunately, Ludwig van Beethoven could never complete his 10th Symphony. At the time of his death, only a few sketches had been completed, but no part of the composition had been finished. On the occasion of the composer's 250th birthday in 2020, Deutsche Telekom dares to experiment: a team of international music scientists and AI experts will use artificial intelligence methods to create a possible version of the 10th Symphony.

Have you become curious? Here you can listen to the current status.

That was the status of the composition in November:

The world premiere of the so-completed 10th symphony will take place on April 28, 2020 in the Telekom Forum in Bonn. It will be performed by the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn under the direction of general music director Dirk Kaftan. The tickets are available at all known Bonnticket advance booking offices from 15 Euros: by telephone on +49 228 7 50 20 10 and online.

Artificial intelligence will complete Beethoven’s 10th Symphony

Can algorithms be creative? Or, to put it another way, what distinguishes us humans from machines? A project in Bonn addresses these core questions around artificial intelligence (AI). His goal: to finish composing Beethoven's unfinished 10th Symphony.
