The International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn 2017 is set to begin on Friday, December 1st. The Competition will kick off one evening bevore at 8:00 pm at Deutsche Telekom headquarters with a Welcome Concert.
The field of 24 competitors was selected from a pool of some 100 applicants. Now these young pianists will face off on the stage of Beethoven’s birth city. The three women and 21 men competing are from 17 different countries: Brazil, China, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy Japan, Jordan, Canada, Croatia, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Turkey and Ukraine. Starting on December 1st, the young pianists will match musical wits in three rounds of competition before the final on December 9th.
Competitors will be studying the work of Ludwig van Beethoven in preparation for the competition program. In each round of the competition, Beethoven’s work will be set against a different period in music history: first the Baroque era, then German Romanticism, followed by classical modern. In the final round, the remaining three contestants will interpret one of Beethoven’s five piano concerto or the piano version of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, accompanied by the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn.
The International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn 2017 will kick off on November 30th at 8:00 pm at Deutsche Telekom headquarters with a Welcome Concert moderated by Daniel Finernagel. This opening event will include an introduction to the 24 pianists competing in this year’s competition as well as a concert by Filippo Gorini, winner of the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn 2015.

Admission to the first three competition rounds, including the semi-finals, is free of charge.
