The Telekom team makes a strong statement

Many employees want an employer who stands for something, whose values they can identify with, and who takes responsibility in times of uncertainty. Deutsche Telekom has drawn up six Guiding Principles for itself, which we use to shape our day-to-day collaboration with our customers, service providers, and colleagues and that we stand up for as a company. All employees help characterize the Guiding Principles and bring them to life in their own unique way. Get to know us better through our series of related blog posts. Maybe these practiced values are something for you too?

At a time when connectivity and communication form the backbone of our modern society, telecommunications services must be reliable. Telekom is sending out a clear signal with the Guiding Principle, “I am T - count on me”: we act with passion, responsibility, and commitment – trust is important to us.

Delighting customers with our passion

For us, “I am T – count on me” means developing the latest technologies and delivering them to our customers in their homes. We want to turn customers into fans with innovative ideas and solutions. We’re putting everything we’ve got into aspects such as the digital transformation, 5G network, data security, artificial intelligence and broadband expansion.

Not just accepting responsibility, but actually taking it on

“Acting responsibly” is an integral part of our corporate strategy and therefore a requirement for all employees in our Group. One of our big goals as part of this is to drive the network build-out and bring all of our customers with us on the journey. Just like our slogan says, “Connecting your world.” We are convinced that every connection contains the opportunity for sustainable development.

For us, our responsibility goes beyond delivering the best technological connections to our customers – it also includes doing our bit for society and the environment. One of our goals is therefore to reach net zero by 2040 and facilitate the circular economy.

Our responsibility to our employees is especially important, so we maintain a cooperative working relationship with all employees’ representation bodies. We are committed to mutual respect and trusting, collaborative relationships. Valuing, promoting, and really embodying diversity is a key part of this. We place a high value on diversity and inclusion. Our engagement in this area has been recognized and was recently honored by the UHLALA Pride Index (December 2023).

Social commitment

Deutsche Telekom considers itself an active member of society and takes responsibility when it comes to social issues. This is why we make our voice heard on behalf of society. Thanks to our digital expertise, we promote digital education  by providing subsidized internet accesses to schools, for example. Our Teachtoday initiative supports children, young people, parents, grandparents, and teaching professionals by providing practical, everyday tips and materials on how to use media safely and proficiently.

Social responsibility is important to us too: that’s why we’re involved through initiatives such as No Hate Speech for democratic cohesion in society and lend a hand via partners such as youth counseling line “Nummer gegen Kummer” and the Telefonseelsorge crisis helpline, providing a diverse range of support services.

With our corporate giving program, we support the work of aid organizations and provide quick help in disaster situations. Our employees are also involved in a wide variety of areas, from schools and kindergartens to environmental projects. As part of our Corporate Volunteering program, we support this kind of commitment in many ways, such as by participating in Social Days as a team or via great projects such as the Special Olympics or the “Ein ❤️ für Kinder” donation gala.
