Femtec scholars visiting Telekom in Berlin and Bonn

As part of the Femtec Career Building Program, almost 60 female STEM students were given an exclusive opportunity to get to know Deutsche Telekom up close and personal and to take an in-depth look at current digital security topics.

18 Femtec scholarship holders attended the workshop “Against hate and fake news online - what really helps” at Deutsche Telekom in Berlin. In an interactive exchange with Telekom experts, they gained insights into the company's initiatives “Against hate on the Internet” and against phishing emails. The focus was not only on the technical and legal aspects of these topics, but also on the social responsibility of companies and how we at Deutsche Telekom live up to this responsibility.

World Cafés and a tour of the Cyber Defense Center Bonn

Just four days after the workshop in Berlin, almost 40 Femtec scholarship holders went on a field trip to Bonn to discuss various topics with Telekom employees in small groups at the “World Café”. Topics covered during the excursion included AI, security, networks/IoT, strategy and sustainability.

In the afternoon, a visit to Deutsche Telekom's Cyber Defense Center was on the agenda.The scholarship holders were given an insight into the technologies and processes required to secure Deutsche Telekom's infrastructure and its customers. The students learned more about Deutsche Telekom's innovative security solutions in direct discussions with the Center's experts.

The visit to Telekom offered the Femtec scholarship holders the opportunity to expand their professional networks, exchange ideas on topics relating to the technology sector and get to know Telekom better as an attractive and versatile employer

The international career platform Femtec prepares women for a (management) career in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. Telekom has been a cooperation partner of the Femtec Career-Building Program for many years and is committed to a fair share of female talent in STEM professions. 100 female STEM scholarship holders complete the 1.5-year career-building program every year. Following the Femtec program, many of them take advantage of the optimal entry and development opportunities at Telekom, from internships to trainee positions.
