Deutsche Telekom awarded prize at the EU Safer Internet Forum 2018 in Brussels.
Mariya Gabriel, EU Digital Commissioner, launched the Europe-wide #SaferInternet4EU campaign in the context of this year’s Safer Internet Day. The objective of this campaign is to help schools, youth centers, parents, as well as children and young persons to make the internet and the use of it safe. As part of the campaign, the commission launched a competition to recognize positive schemes of exemplary character in addition to several actions. Deutsche Telekom submitted its “Teachday” initiative. And the result was pleasing: Out of the numerous entries from all EU countries, Teachtoday won second prize in the “Organizations” category. “We are delighted that so many users chose Teachtoday in the online vote”, says Barbara Costanzo, Vice President Group Social Engagement Deutsche Telekom. “We offer much of the content available on our website www.teachtoday.de in seven different languages. This means our national companies can also push their own national initiatives regarding the safe and competent use of digital media.” The award ceremony took place in Brussels at the end of November as part of the Safer Internet Forum, an annual gathering of experts.
